I think it could be B or D, but D is more correct because 'sporadic' is less appropriate than 'obligatory', while 'effortless' and 'ubiquitous' are equally fitting.

sporadic means isolated so 2 is not the option
conspicuous means blatant or obvious
indispensible means vital, essential,necessary

ubiquitous means universal,found every where
obligatory means madatory,compulsory,binding etc..So
D is the correct answer

THe answer is B...sporadic means present at regular places...eg..plant growth is sporadic...that is , it is present at lots of places...the precise fact which is being reasoned out in the remainder of the sentence
