    GRE analogies are not at all based on +ve and -ve connotations... they are clearly based on relationships and whichsoever provides stronger relationship is the answer ....

    connotations only sometimes choose the better out of two similar relationships ...

    and to add more, a passage and digression cannot be called positive or negative, since digression can be towards positive thing also... i.e. from wrong to right ...

    ADDRESS is an eye-catcher since it might remind
    one of a SPEECH. DIGRESSION is also an eyecatcher
    since one may digress during a SPEECH.
    Now, a FILIBUSTER is a long SPEECH. Similarly, a
    MARATHON is a long RACE. The answer is (A).
