  2. Let C be Carrie’s age. Then Tom’s age is C + 10. Now, 5 years ago, Carrie’s age was C – 5 and
    Tom’s age was (C + 10) – 5 = C + 5. Since at that time, Tom was twice as old as Carrie, we get
    5 + C = 2(C – 5). Solving this equation for C yields C = 15. The answer is (D).

  3. lets the age of tom is X and carrie's is Y
    X=Y+10........(i)
    X-5=2(Y-5)....... (ii)
    =>Y +10-5 =2Y-10

    => -Y=- 15
    =>y=15

  4. yes the answer is D...Carrie's age is fifteen years...cross check...
    if Carrie's age is 15 years now, then Tom's age is 25 years..5years ago, Carrie's age is 10 and Tom's age is 20 i.e. twice Carrie's age...
